A Tardis like timber-framed extension to this granite build existing cottage has created a home for a family of five. Economically constructed with a single story flat roof timber frame, the plan form expands along the western boundary to maximise the bedroom space. Roof lights are added to provide further generosity. The architecture of this contemporary black clad single storey addition seeks a quiet, sensitive, low profile relationship with the existing granite built pitched roof structure, whilst also opening itself to the south facing patio and ruin with its rural aspect. A super insulated low energy home with underfloor heating run off a Air source heat pump was a high priority for our energy conscious family of five.
